Idaho Central Arena – Boise, ID – Northwestern Tour

Northwestern Heavyweight Title Match: Raven def. Sting – NEW CHAMPION
Our main event saw the crowning of the first ever Northwestern Heavyweight champion. Raven and Sting put everything out there for the fans. No one left the arena feeling disappointed about this match. Sting missed a Stinger Splash in the corner to give Raven the opportunity for the Evenflow to become the first Northwestern Heavyweight champion.

World Series of Wrestling – Semifinal: Stan ‘The Lariat’ Hansen def. Arn Anderson (2-1)
Stan Hansen and Arn Anderson had a slugfest for the fans. Both men were bloodied as they tried to break the tie in their favor. Both men fought over Hansen’s bullrope until Hansen leveled Arn with the Lariat for the pin. Stan Hansen now has the 2-1 lead in the series.

Sting def. Dean Malenko
Our second Northwestern semifinal match had the battle of the submission masters. Both men rely heavily on their variation of the Sharpshooter. Neither man really went for it in this match. Malenko tried to show that he can do more. He made a valiant showing, but Sting moved out of the way of a lariat in the corner to take Malenko down with a bulldog for the pin.

Raven def. ‘Ravishing’ Rick Rude, COUNTOUT
The first semifinal match for the Northwestern Heavyweight Title was very short-lived. Jimmy Garvin came down to the ring and pulled Rude out. The two of them brawled until Rude was counted out, giving Raven an easy victory into the title match.

World Series of Wrestling – Semifinal: ‘Heart Break Kid’ Shawn Michaels def. Goldust (2-1)
The semifinal round of the World Series of Wrestling has been red hot as both series are tied at one win a piece. Shawn Michaels and Goldust had their hands full with each other tonight, but Michaels got the separation he needed to hit the Sweet Chin Music to take the 2-1 lead in the series.

‘Ravishing’ Rick Rude def. ‘Gorgeous’ Jimmy Garvin
The last match of our quarterfinals has Rick Rude and Jimmy Garvin facing off in a battle of who is prettier. Unfortunately, that’s all Garvin seemed to bring to the match because Rude destroyed him rather quickly.

Raven def. Iceman King Parsons
Raven and Iceman had a classic match that showed more of their scientific skills than the crowd was expecting. Nothing of Raven’s hardcore heritage. Not much from Iceman’s brawling background. Raven got the pin with a rollup after moving out of the way from Iceman’s Butt Thump into the turnbuckle.

Dean Malenko def. Honky Tonk Man
Honky Tonk Man met his match tonight with Dean Malenko. Once Malenko established himself with the more dominant offense in the match, HTM went for his guitar. Malenko kicked HTM in the stomach before destroying the guitar over his head to get the pin. Maybe HTM will rethink bringing multiple guitars to a show.

Sting def. ‘Universal Heartthrob’ Austin Idol
Idol tried to match wits with Sting, who simply came at him with everything he had. Three Stinger Splashes led to Idol being forced to tap from the Scorpion Death Lock, even though he was only a couple inches away from the ropes.

Durable Tag Team Titles Match: Rhythm & Blues (c) def. Von Erich Brothers
Rhythm & Blues successfully defended their titles against the Von Erichs. Valentine took the bulk of the match since Honky Tonk Man was still active in the Tournament. Valentine made Kerry submit to the Figure Four to retain the titles.

‘Ravishing’ Rick Rude def. ‘Gentleman’ Chris Adams
Rude had everything going his way in the match. He had Adams set up for the Rude Awakening, but Adams got out of it and shoved Rude into the referee. While the referee was down, Jerry Lawler came down to the ring and attacked Adams. Lawler drilled Adams into the mat with the Piledriver before Rude finished him off with the Rude Awakening.

‘Gorgeous’ Jimmy Garvin def. ‘Fallen Angel’ Christopher Daniels
Garvin and Daniels had the flattest match of the Tournament. Daniels got caught up in the ropes early, and Garvin was able to take advantage of it with the Brain Buster for the pin.

Iceman King Parsons def. Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler
Iceman and Lawler had a great match to keep the crowd’s excitement going for the Tournament. Lawler nailed Iceman with the Piledriver, but Iceman was saved by ‘Gentleman’ Chris Adams rushing down to the ring. While Lawler was distracted, Iceman nailed him with the Butt Thump to get the pin.

Raven def. Iron Mike Sharpe
Raven and Sharpe had a major battle of wits as they sought to advance in the Tournament. Sharpe was holding his own until he telegraphed a backdrop, leading to the Evenflow for the pin by Raven.

Dean Malenko def. Jeff Jarrett
Malenko and Jarrett had a classic battle that illustrated both men’s talents. Malenko blocked the Stroke and was able to get Jarrett to tap from the Texas Cloverleaf.

Honky Tonk Man def. ‘Canadian Crippler’ Chris Benoit
Benoit had the match well in hand before Honky Tonk Man grabbed the guitar and nailed him over the head with it.

‘Universal Heartthrob’ Austin Idol def. Undertaker
Austin Idol takes every advantage that he can throughout the match to get a win over the Undertaker, including a superplex through a table at ringside.

Sting def. Diamond Dallas Page
Our opening match kicks off the tournament for the Northwestern Heavyweight Title. Sting and DDP have an amazing match to start the program. Sting gets the win by submission with the Scorpion Death Lock.
