March 26, 2001 saw the end of the "Golden Age of Wrestling." It was the day when Vince McMahon announced his purchase of World Championship Wrestling, ending the "Monday Night Wars" that had brought such great attention to pro wrestling since September 4, 1995. WCW's Monday Night Nitro and WWF's Raw were two of the hottest tickets, beating out everything except Monday Night Football. Both promotions tried to outdo each other, but there was one slight, small, insignificant, little difference: Vince McMahon grew up in the wrestling business. WCW was run by advertising executives from Turner Broadcasting System. Hmmm... wonder how Vince won?
