World Wrestling Entertainment has been the biggest player in the pro wrestling industry for almost twenty years. After it bought out WCW and ECW, there really haven't been too many who have been able to get anywhere close to competing with them. However, the level of their product has declined since at least 2002.

The WWE began as Roderick J. McMahon's (Vince's grandfather) Capitol Wrestling Corporation in Washington, DC in 1952. Vince's father inherited it in 1954 when his father died. Upon leaving the NWA in 1963, Capitol became World Wide Wrestling Federation. The name was shortened to World Wrestling Federation in 1979. Vince bought the WWF from his father in 1982. He and his wife Linda have run the company ever since.
