12 Days Creation

God created the world in six days. The basis for everything you see around you was created in these six days. Despite the claims of science that all of this has had to have billions, trillions, or even quadrillions of years to happen, God did it all in six days. Just as He gives His Word in two testaments, God set up Creation in two sets. In the first set, He created a perfect environment. In the second, He populated that environment.

On the first day, God created Light. The difference between Night and Day. On the second day, He separated the waters so that the sky would allow us to breathe the air. On the third day, He separated the dry ground from the water. He also brought forth vegetation from the earth.

On the fourth day, God created the sun, moon and stars to contain and harness the Light. On the fifth day, birds began to fly across the sky and fish first swam in the water. On the sixth day, the land animals were called out of the earth. God also formed Adam out of the dust. All of His perfect environment was now populated.

God could have done it all in an instant, but He chose to do it this way to reveal that He is a God of order. Who has given everything a purpose. To show forth His power and majesty. To give us infinite reasons to "thank and praise, serve and obey Him" (Small Catechism, First Article). Amen.
